Hi all,
I would like to request adding an 'Open Chart' item to the Options Chain context menu.
The current way to chart trade an option contract (screenshot #1) is tedious and requires 8 steps:
1. Select chart window
2. Open search window...
3. Select instrument
4. Select 'Option'
5. Select expiry
6. Open drop down and scroll numerous strikes
7. Click Search
8. Select contract from results and open.
I believe most option traders will always be looking at the option chain first, because this is where we go first to understand current underlying price relative to available strikes, their respective prices, volumes, open interest, delta and other greeks.
In this case, one might ask why not just trade from the option chain? This is certainly possible but for me I have come to rely on exit strategies (available for charts only) for most of my trading. This feature is extremely powerful allowing one to pre-determine fixed risk, stop losses and take profits. Furthermore, the stop losses and take profits can be staged at different price levels by percentage of overall trade size (screenshot #3).
Therefore I would like to request adding an 'Open Chart' menu item to the existing row (strike) context menu of the option chain station (screenshot #2). On the call side it would open the respective price chart of the call strike. Similarly for the put side.
I believe this feature adds synergy to the workflow and is truer to how option traders really go about trading option contracts. It should also be an easy odd on with the expectation of opening the chart in the same station.
Feedback welcome...
Much thanks,
Nic
