PSA: setting studyOverlay in your study allows using exported values from other studies

This is just a post for anyone trying to find how to use exported values from other studies in your own study. I have searched the web, this forum, the SDK docs, contacted support (which they said to ask on this forum - lol) and could not find anything clear about it.

The way to do it is to use an InputDescriptor in your study settings in combination with setting the 'studyOverlay' flag to true in the StudyHeader. When studyOverlay is true, it should allow you to select plots that are on the chart.

Hope this helps anyone desperately trying to figure this out.

I do not think it is necessary to set studyOverlay = true to get access to the values in your Study. As studyOverlay only seems to define were the study is plotted.

I always have hard time what overlay and studyOverlay in the StudyHeader means, documentation is not to clear unfortunately.

Are you on v6 or v7? Perhaps it's fixed in v7, but I am fairly certain studyOverlay=true is needed (at least on V6) for the inputDescriptor to start behaving like a selector of plots on your chart.

In any case, if it's no longer needed - happy days.
