setPriceBarColor without changing bar outline

Maybe I shouldn’t compare the two, but this could be a positive point for people moving from NinjaTrader to MotiveWave. NinjaTrader’s charts look much cleaner and sharper, probably because when you compress the chart, you can still control the spacing between the bars.


Another difference is bar coloring. In MotiveWave, the entire bar is colored, whereas in Ninjatrader only the body is colored. In most cases, when coloring a bar, the intention is to highlight the body and not the wicks or the outline.


Am I missing something here, or is this simply a limitation of MotiveWave?

You can set up a new theme and color the bars in any way you wish...

If you don't like the way that MotiveWave is coloring the bars, you can change it via theme.

IE - If you want the wicks the same / different color.

Donovan, did you read my questions? The subject is: "setPriceBarColor' without changing bar outline"
The first question is about the look of the candles, sharpness and spacing etc, not the colors. (Think I found the bug report here about the bar spacing link)
The second question is about giving candles a color using de setPriceBarColor (Software Development Kit) but only the body not the wicks.

That's a nice workaround though the scaling (when zooming in/out) results in the rectangle overlaping the candle width or falling into the body.
I'm using ctx.getBarWidth() to get the bar width, but seems that is not the true candle body width.

you can hide the bars from Motivewave and draw the bars yourselves the way you like it (eg in a Figure).
getBarWidth probably returns the size in pixels it uses for horizontal spacing, as the different bar types have their own drawing implementation (HLC bar is smaller than a CandleStick.
