Hi Everyone,

Would you like the idea that Motivewave creating an official MotiveWave discord server to federate users community to share ideas, information and ask/answer questions in a more "modern way" than the current forums ?
Please like the idea if you enjoy it to show our enthusiasm ! :-)

Best Regards

The idea as such is good, the problem for Motivewave as a company is that it would probably need to be moderated for legal resons. And that requires manpower of some sort.

Couldn't agree more.
The software itself looks a bit like from 2005 so I'm not surprised about the forum lol
But Discord would be 10x better.

No. If you are serious about trading and want to have an easy to search archive about solved problems, Discord groups are a waste of time. This software (Xenforo) is the best out there. Easy to use, easy to search. Very time efficient.

Only the moderators should be faster to answer questions ;)

But that does not change with Discord.

You really do not know what you are talking about, sorry to say this. Look at vbulletin or Sierry Chart, if you want to see the look of the eighties.

Discord is for teenies or people who are bored and want to waste their time in endless chats instead of making money.

is there a discord or more recent forum? I really dont care for the format (even tho discord is much easier to use. (i still use thelion from '04, yea im old)

please make a discord. i would be honored to be a mod

that would help out sooo much more

Please explain:

How can a Discord channel help more than this forum?
The benefit of discord would be more on MW's side than ours. Especially with software update feedback and increasing their following. I tend to go to a company's discord first before forum because Mods tend to point me in the right direction and most have customer support / help desk. Something about mixing a chat environment with a forum makes it easy for Discord "threads" to get derailed. I think Discord would help to bring more users together.

i disagree. Noone searches for old postings in Discord. You end up posting the same answers to the same questions again and again.

It is a waste of time for both, the moderators and the users.

I have never seen a Discord or Telegram group which saved me time compared to a forum like this here. It always took more time to check for answers, beeing up to date etc.

Discord and telegram groups are for people who are bored and want to chat about things outside of product or to make jokes.

The fact that motivewave offers a real forum is a selling point for me compared to i.e. ATAS.

For me, this is an indication that Motivewave is taking the customer serious. A sign of a professional business behaviour. Every Joe Smith can open a Discord or Telegram channel. This is not hard. A real forum is a real commitment.

Never mentioned searching nor telegram. Was just answering someone on how a "discord" channel can help.
in terms of searching , a forum is hands down the best knowledge base. A few forums ive been in for 20+ years had all the issues you mentioned
' posting jokes ' , ' off-topic ' , ' posting the same answers ' , etc.
Its how a community is managed. With that said im unsubscribing to this thread or disabling email notifications cuz this popping up in my email feed and not really resolving a post from 2024.

The goal of a support forum is to supprt the customer in case he has problems with as little as possible workload for the company.

A good searchability is essential for this.

Discord and Telegram are no designed for this use case. They were invented as a social media chitchat platform for gamers or interest groups, which just want to spend time with each other or hype things, like all the crypto or political Discord and telegram channels.

As long as Discord/Telegram are not changing dramatically the way how they work and add better features outside of small talk, they are useless for serious customer support issues.

Same for facebook groups, by the way.

I think there is something to be said about fostering an active community on discord. Some people would definitely enjoy that, not just because they are bored but you know some of us just like to connect and have a chat. Also, discord can be setup professionally in a more forum-like manner, however most communities do not utilise those features and the poor setup usually breeds the behavior you mentioned.

All that being said, I also agree with you, I prefer this forum for actually posting and solving issues, it is much more time efficent for everyone involved. I'm just saying discord is not all that bad.
