Am I the only one who is having a horrible time with IBKR and MW7? It worked so well with 6.9.2 and somewhat ok with the Betas but the new one is just constantly dropping. Basically useless at this point. Seems fine with other data feeds just IBKR.

There have been a few posts on the forum suggesting that V7 is a bit of a lemon. You are better off retreating to the safety of Version 6 until those bugs get ironed out.

I actually may take back what I said - I don't know if it's 7.0.2 which came out right after I posted that (since MW is very opaque about what they update or fix) or the fact that I am rebuilding my workspaces from scratch but it is actually working fairly well.

One thing I noticed (again not well documented) is that as long as you don't turn on use IB Continuous Futures and use the MotiveWave Historical Backfill, MW is flying at loading charts. Also I will say TS is working really well.

So yeah I do feel it may actually be better with the right setup, the problem is MotiveWave leaves people to figure things out and creates this mess. Great product, poor community support (nothing new).

Rebuilding work-spaces, that's too bad, sorry to hear that, a full time job.

I switched to the a,b,g bands on the intel 7265 and the speed is @ 300 to 500 mbps and the YM CBOT charts will now load faster via the IB gateway. It depends if you connect to a router directly or another gateway. The b,g mode will yield lower speed but better signal. The 7265 is a way better card than 8265 in my honest opinion. Glad to hear about TWS working well.

You know some things though, yeah everything you learn on your own.

Not terrible to rebuild, giving me a chance to clean up some messy workspaces I had.

And yeah I actually do everything wired and remote into those machines at home.. Learnt the hard way Wifi is useless for this type of stuff the hard way. Great tip though thanks and would reco everyone go wired. It's night and day.

Another thing I would reco for anyone using IBKR is make sure you have enough memory allocated. By default it only allocates like 768mb, I bump it to like 16GB and run that on a separate machine I use as a server and it makes a diff.

Yes, ethernet cable is preferable to 802.11 but tethering to one machine also yields impressive and steady connections. Yes right on. Every December when a new IB Gateway is released, after installation, the allocation will default to 768 MB and you have to remember to increase it especially for optimal TWS.
