I'm new to FOREX and in the learning faze. As I learn the ins and outs of Motivewave I've realized that the charts don't update in real time. The only time they update is if, and only when I change time periods, as in switching from 5 min. to 15 min. charts. I've looked through the forums and the only relevant info I've founds is to ensure the Wifi connection and to ensure I am using the most current version of the software. Both are satisfied however the problem persists. I am not connected with a broker, rather I am using the Google/Yahoo data, not sure if that has any impact. I am reluctant to get any paid plans if the simulated account won't function properly. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

You are going to need to get a different data feed... I suspect what you have is delayed data (It is free?)... Also it appears MotiveWave doesn't support live data, or even delayed data from that source.
Since historical data is only supported it would make sense it is only updating when you change time frames.
