If you were setting up a new account trading index futures with your own cash and using MotiveWave as your platform, what would you use for order routing and market data? My broker is offering either Rithmic or CQG. Thank you for your input.

CQG for you personal account.
It is more reliable.

Also prop firms mostly connect through Rithmic.
That way you could trade your own account through CQG and copy the trades to the prop firm account which is connected through Rithmic.

The persistant reliability issues with Rithmic have me considering CQG for order routing. I may use a third-party for market data that would provide full book and MBO.

Rithmic for one reason only, the MBO data, its superior. Never had any serious issues when supplied by a broker. The Prop version of Rithmic is ok but not near as reliable as the broker versions, they will have outages. Now if you choose Rithmic I cant see the point for different routing service.

I had some issues with Rithmic in the past. I switched to CQG and never looked back. I trade NQ futures only, nothing fancy, no indicators, just a naked chart with drawn levels. All works smoothly with CQG including the historical data.
I think the longer this thread stays alive the more opinions you would hear :)

cheers

Oh yeah, there are advantages to Rithmic v. CQG market data. My issues with Rithmic’s lack of reliability were from a few years ago connecting to my own brokerage account—not a prop firm.

I experienced Rithmic going down during RTH multiple times. On one occasion, everything appeared to be connected and working, but I was not receiving tick data. Therefore, my studies were not calculating correctly.

Do you think they have corrected these problems for those with cash brokerage accounts? I would be willing to try them again. However, a part of me would feel like an abused partner saying, “But he’s changed this time.”

Spot on. Your experience is consistent with what others have told me.
