MotiveWave v7 Beta 6 - Issues & Requests

What up everybody.

I've been using the 7 Beta and noting down issues to provide feedback to the team. I quite like the direction that MW 7 is going, so trying to do what I can to help the team knock thangs out of the park when it's time for the official release.

Here is the latest recording I put together of some of the issues I've seen. Feel free to post other things as well. I've sent the list to the support team, but figured I'd post it here as well in case others have noticed similar issues or found workarounds.

Some of the items noted are:

• T&S panel width resets after closing and reopening MotiveWave
• Toolbar reappears upon reopening after disabling ‘Show Toolbar’ and requires toggling the checkmark on and off to remove
• Candle-style Volume or Cumulative Delta studies do not inherit main chart’s color theme
• Cumulative Delta Bar Width setting does not affect the display
• Study Graph order (e.g., Cumulative Delta above Volume) resets on relaunch
• Anchored VWAP TAG does not display
• AVG Entry doesn’t show on charts where the price axis is turned off, even though orders do
• Continuous Contracts don’t continue past most recent front month (@GC)
• PnF chart is slow and clunky to navigate with X’s and O’s
• NT Renko missing ‘Show Tails’, ‘Show Range Outline’, ‘Use Minute Bars’ options present in other Renko types
• Color changes for @Ask/@Bid do not apply immediately—only after reopening chart
• Bubbles misalign with TPO periods when Volume Profiles shift TPO to the right; no offset option
• Saving Chart Templates requires retyping name—can’t easily overwrite existing ones like with Study Templates
• Vertical Spacer doesn’t work properly in the Bottom DOM panel; customization is difficult and unintuitive
• Vertical Spacer resets to 8 regardless of user input
• Turning Auto Scale on/off causes unpredictable chart height behavior
• Auto Scale (Price Only) option does not appear to function correctly
• With “Color Cycle” option selected, you can’t see the Point Of Control
• Extension lines remain at the start of the day instead of stretching across like OHLC lines
• On linear charts, current day Volume Profile doesn’t align to the far right—overlaps candles
• Volume Imprints do not print during Market Replay
• VWAP behavior in Market Replay is unclear/incomplete
• TPOs do not print during Market Replay
• In cross-trading mode, disabling cross mode removes avg entry display, but active orders still show. If you move the orders while in non-cross trade mode…they go away, even in cross trading mode
• Cash Balance and Balance values are not updating properly
• If you have multiple Rithmic connections, and don’t log in with all of them but only 1, then data doesn’t work. Must be connected to all accounts
• Unrealized P&L doesn’t show in the case of multiple Rithmic connections in workspace but connected to only one
• Issue with Data Freezing during high volatility such as 8:30 CST Equity Open, even when looking at non equity instruments

Some of the feature requests:

• Add ability to filter Accounts, similar to how we can filter executions by account
• Bring the line connection on “show trades” back or allow option to show lines all the time vs on mouse-over
• Option to “Extend Latest” similar to the current option to “Shorten Latest”; also note it displays correctly on Extended chart but not on RTH-only chart
• Allow ability to have a different color font for the text on the Point of Control (PoC), in case the PoC color differs from other volume levels
• Hide Initial Balance Ranges (IBRs) until the set IB is formed/completed

I tried MW and experienced the same issues. It's really unacceptable for trading software to have data freezing during high-volatility period like the 9:30 est That alone is enough to make people not want to use it.

Definitely have been sharing many feedbacks with MW support team since 7.0B1 and they have been doing a great fixing many of the issues I was experiencing.

I noticed on your list that you have NT Renko Listed as not showing “Show Tails” and “Show Outline option”….
I mostly focus on Renko (Traditional) Chart and this was one of many issues that I shared with the support team and they seem to have Fixed that issue.

I’m not sure if the chart settings for the NT Renko is different from the Traditional Renko chart, but I’d definitely take a look at it tomorrow when I login to the platform.

Added a 5-6 min video containing 2 other items I forgot to post:

Last Price Indicator doesn’t work on chart where price axis is turned off

Adding a hotkey for "Cross Line" then leads to it never letting go of the assigned key, even if you delete or change it

@matcha_thecat thankfully version 6.9 still works without that issue! I understand that 7 is BETA and the data freezing is specific to Rithmic's web api, but in the last couple of days it seems to be improving as Rithmic addresses it on their end.

Other than that and some of the notable issues, the 7 Beta has made a lot of improvements from B1 to B6. I got word that they reported a number of the issues in the list to development. Looking forward to seeing things continue improve and what else the team delivers in upcoming releases!

Yes, I know version 7.xx is still in beta, but I experienced freezing at the 9:30 EST open for about 1–5 minutes. It also happened before red folder news events on the stable version 6.9.xx (or something around that). I'm not sure if the issue was with Rithmic or MotiveWave. For what it's worth, I never had this problem when using Sierra Chart with the Denali data feed while trading on Rithmic. I really wish MW had the option to use one data feed for charting and another for trading accounts.

I wish they could improve loading times, it is a bit clunky. Fingers crossed they can do it in the following releases.

Anyone else's Cross-Trade prefs not sticking in 7.0 Beta 8 ? Mac version on M1 with latest OS.

Any findings should be sent directly to MW team to work the bugs out. Eventually we all benefit from a polished final version.

Hope all is well. Yes I also experienced Cross-Trade (NQ/MMQ) issue after updating to version 7.0 Beta 8.

I have already emailed a feedback to MotiveWave Support team earlier last week and they discovered that it’s a BUG and that they will help get it fix with another beta update.

Just a friendly note… You probably already doing this but since version 7.0 is still in a beta mode I would recommend to also send any and all issues that you encounter to MotiveWave support team as well to help them out!

Wow. Just experienced chart draw delay with Rithmic. Twice now today. Got clobbered. Can't use the beta any more, so no sense in submitting ticket... don't have the time.

Sorry to hear that and I hope it didn’t cause you a serious trade lost.

If you don’t mind I’d still recommend sharing this experience with the MW support team.

I hope this doesn’t come out wrong but I don’t think of this as summiting a ticket but a more of sharing with them what challenges 7.0 Beta still faces and that they still needs to continue to polish as get close and closer stages for a potential final public release!
