For the benefit of others.....

I have a 2022 owned license. Support had expired.
MW had acted wonky on my desktop since the initial install in 2022.
Locking up, from what I believe is an NVIDIA graphics card issue - server / PC is more than 6 or so years old.
I shelved MW for a good bit, not having the time to wrestle with it. *gasp*

Fast forward to today.
I've had some time to look at things - recent surgery/off work.

I tried moving the license over to another PC.
At first it would not work - stating the license was active on another PC.

Shot an email over to support/sales.
They conveyed my support had expired, I needed to pay a $295 support fee to get any feedback

I shut down the other PC, thinking it might take care of the "active on another machine" issue.
This didn't resolve it. Implying, to me, you could not have two "installed" instances - active or not.

I uninstalled MW from the old machine.
This didn't resolve it.

After having waited a bit (15 minutes or so), and retrying, I was able to get MW working on the new machine.
I suspect related to an uninstall status needing to propagate over to MW folks, thereby releasing the license to be reused on another machine.

As I write, I got an email response from MW: "The session was cleared."
From this email, it seems something did need to propagate on the MW side of things in order to move the license.

I don't know if my email prompted the propagation of my license status, or if it would naturally heal itself within a short period of the uninstall on the original machine. Or perhaps it is not even necessary to uninstall on your older machine so long as two instances are not running simultaneously. I did not go to the extent to test various hypotheses - I knew MW would behave wonky on my old machine so I removed it altogether.

Sharing my experience - to help avoid a $295 support expense when trying to move a license.
Your mileage may vary on 1) whether you can have working installs on two machines so long as they are not running at the same time, and b) how long it takes you to move a license, as it seems something has to be released on MW's side.

I have two installs, one home, one at work, only one license. As long you don't run them both simultaneously they work just fine.
