Hi

I am thinking about trading stocks & options with motivewave. Does anybody have experience with it and if yes, what is your setup for this in the software and which datafeed are you using, which broker (I am currently at IAB)?

I've been trying to find a good solution for awhile now. I've tried Schwab, Tradier, TradeStation and IB. They all have their issues. I've found that the schwab connection works the best as far as data goes. The big issue with Schwab is you cant place trades from MW. IB seems to be the connection of choice but I've found that the data is way too slow but trading from Motivewave seems to work pretty good. TradeStation is okay, but it seems to constantly disconnect and takes a long time to reconnect. The Tradier connection isn't great, constant error messages about data.

Bottom line, if MotiveWave developers would implement as solid way of trading from MW with the Schwab connection it would be a no brainer for me. If you're okay with paying $100/month for data I think IB would be a great choice as well. I tried it with IQfeed and it seemed to work well.

I love MotiveWave but it just doesn't work well connecting to retail brokers in my experience. I've began looking at TradingView for my stock/options trading stuff. I would love to be able to use one platform for Futures and Stocks/options but Im losing hope.

Oh, this is disappointing. I'm experiencing the same exact issues. I'm a day trader, stocks, some options; connected through IBKR. It's painful. Entirely too slow, clunky, and MW just seems to get in the way. with the limits on API lookups IBKR and MW make it too difficult to monitor multiple positions. Looks like I'll not complete the trial and just go back to IBKR tools. It's unfortunate, I like the software; too bad it doesn't perform well with IBKR.

I currently subscribe to TradingView with their data and was looking for a more integrated solution that doesn't rely on it so heavily.

I think you can connect TradingView to IBKR and use IBKR data but you'll probably still have the limits. If you spend the $ for DTN or IQfeed data I think your IBKR setup with MW would be good. I'm not sure I'm ready to shell out the $100/month as Im more of a swing/position trader with Stocks/options and I'm not sure its necessary at this point. I did the IQfeed trial and it was similar to CQG for futures which I use on a daily basis and it is solid. This is my issue...Im used to MW working flawlessly with CQG data and Edge Clear...just want to find an option that won't cost me $100/month.

Yes indeed you can connect IBKR to tradingview but it's too limited (only one tab open for instance) and I don't trust it. This is why I wanted something more robust, but MW doesn't appear to be that solution without shelling out ~$400 a month ($170 MW, ~$170 DTN, ~$20 IBKR extra data fees not covered by their min $20/mo commission free data services. )
